One of the most jarring moments in history was Abraham Lincoln’s death. He was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, an actor and a confederate spy. Lincoln was shot on the head on April 14, 1865, at around 10 pm. He died at 7:22 am on April 15.

The casket containing his body travelled for 3 weeks in a special funeral train that stopped at many cities for memorials, which were then attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

Because of the impact on his nation and the whole world, there were many tributes and commemorations about him. His portrait appears in two denominations of US currency, as well as on various postage stamps.

His image was carved at Mount Rushmore, and a museum and a memorial establishment were built under his name. Even now, he is still being included in pop culture so that new generations wouldn’t forget about the things that he did. Hopefully, this compilation of Abraham Lincoln quotes could also serve as a reminder of the 16th president’s legacy.
