Born on April 16, 1889, in London, England as Charles Spencer Chaplin Jr. He was a comic actor, filmmaker, and composer. Chaplin gained worldwide recognition for his screen persona in the film The Tramp (1915). A silent comedy film that follows Chaplin’s character around like a vagrant.

In the mid-1970s, Chaplin suffered from several strokes. He was too frail to kneel during his knighthood but stayed in his wheelchair. In October 1977, he became weaker and needed care round the clock. On Christmas day of 1977, he died in his sleep from a stroke.
