Born on June 1, 1926, as Norma Jeane Mortenson in California, USA. Marilyn Monroe was a popular actress and had been called a sex symbol in the 1950-1960s. She is the greatest female actress from the Golden Age of Hollywood. This article is a compilation of Marilyn Monroe quotes and captions, but let’s get to know her a little bit more.

She is known for her pin-up modelling and acting career, however, before that, she worked in a factory during World War II. She met a photographer from First Motion Picture who introduced her to the world of show business.

Monroe grew up in a foster home and orphanage. Growing up, she was a shy girl and developed a stutter. She grew up in an orphanage but also spent a lot of time in foster families, however, one of her foster parents molested her. To avoid going back to the orphanage, Monroe married her first husband at the age of 16 (he was 21), James Dougherty in 1942.

In 1944, she started modelling and acting in a film. Five years later, she had a major breakthrough in her career which actually stemmed from a rumour that she posed naked for a calendar. Monroe decided to come clean and say that she was broke at that time. To her surprise, this gained her public sympathy that leads to more acting projects.

Her most popular movies are Gentleman Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot, The Misfits, The Seven Year Itch, How To Mary a Millionaire, and The Asphalt Jungle – to name a few.

She divorced Dougherty in 1946 and remarried Joe DiMaggio in 1954. They also divorced just 9 months since the wedding. In 1956, she then married Arthur Miller who was a writer but divorced in 1961.

In the 1960s, her career started to decline. She also lost a role to Audrey Hepburn in the movies Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Many people in the industry said that she lost her charisma but also lost her professionalism. She was in quite a contract battle with Fox but ended up signing and working on a few more fils like Something Got to Give and What a Way To Go.
