Martin Luther King Jr was born Michael King Jr on January 15 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the second of three children of Michael King Sr and Alberta King. He became prominent because he is one of the most visible spokespeople in the American civil rights movement aside from being a minister. He is also known as MLK.
